Tolman Sweet Apple Tree on Standard sized root stock

Lightly colored green apple that usually has a fine suture line running from end to end. Tender skin and flesh. A uniquely sweet, all-purpose apple. A custardy, almost vanilla flavor is present, making it quite fine for baking with. Traditionally was used as a pickling/canning apple (we hear pickling with Brandy is the way to go!). Harvested in late fall and stores for just a few months.

One of our first American apples, originating in Dorchester, MA before 1700. Possibly a cross of Sweet Greening and Old Russet. Can bear heavily but does have seem to have biennial tendencies. Very hardy tree.
